Biography
I hold a masters degree (MS) in Animals and Public Policy (minor Animal Behavior) through Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. I am an Associate Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (ACAAB) through the Animal Behavior Society. Through this organization I hold both a CPDT-KA and a CBCC-KA. I earned my Fear Free Professional Trainer certification in 2018.
I have worked professionally for 15 years and done behavior modification for 11 years. I currently see private clients for behavior challenges as well as basic skills and manners full time.
From 2018 – 2021 I was the Program Chair/Head Training Instructor of the Academy of Pet Careers where I trained aspiring trainers to be professional trainers. I also taught a body language/behavior class to the students of the Training, Grooming, and Vet Assistant courses with a focus on learning to recognize fear, anxiety, and stress in dogs and how to mitigate those experiences in real time while still getting their job done well.
Prior to that, I was the behavior and training manager at two mid-sized humane societies for a total of about 14 months.
