When I began my behavior career, the Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) had just initiated a dedicated behavior department for the first time in its history. Observing that dogs with bite, fight, or phobia issues were the hardest to adopt, I focused 100% of my efforts towards the rehabilitation and adoption of these at-risk dogs. Every day, I looked for the dogs with the word “BITER” on their kennel and set forth to give these challenged dogs a new lease on life. I was mentored daily by the seasoned behavior professionals at PACC who generously offered their time in educating and training me and to whom I will always owe a debt of gratitude. On the Top Dog team, I was regularly assigned the most difficult cases and helped treat and adopt over 100 aggressive and phobic dogs in my 500 hours of service. Since then, I have mentored with 7 dog behavior professionals and worked with hundreds more dogs over the last 8 years. As stated on my business card, my mission today is to continue keeping dogs and their families together.
Experienced in Severe Separation Anxiety/Separation Related Problems:
I lived with and successfully treated an 80 lb American Bulldog with severe separation related problems including separation anxiety, isolation distress, and panic disorder. She presented with destruction of furniture, windows, doors, house soiling, howling, panic, drooling, hyperventilation, and vomiting. After treatment, she was able to remain calm and peaceful in durations up to 6 hours. I have complete video and photo documentation of the process.
Experienced with Severe Dog-Human Aggression:
I have worked with many dogs who presented with indiscriminate lunging and biting towards strangers, owners, and children. All were successfully treated within 6 weeks.
Experienced with Phobias:
I have worked with many dogs who presented with fear and panic towards men, handicapped persons, motion, sound, appliances, bicycles, cars, riding in cars, and even their owners. All of these cases were successful and the owners reported satisfaction with the results.
